LE JEAN, ALLIÉ DU PULL MARIN AU QUOTIDIEN

These pants are the ultimate basic, it is a piece of fashion history and iconic. Although a symbol of the American way of life, jeans have their origins in Europe. The word denim comes from the name "toile de Nîmes" which was a thick fabric made in the eponymous city, to make boat sails. This fabric was dyed in Genoa blue, Blu di Genova in Italian, which will be distorted into blue jeans. Then the jeans themselves were born in the United States in 1853. Levi Strauss, a German emigrated to the United States sold denim. At the same time, a tailor named Davis made an order for a lumberjack in Nevada. He had a very large waist and needed to make a solid pair of pants that would last. Davis made the pants out of denim purchased from Levi Strauss. He used the rivets from his previous work to reinforce and hold the fabric at certain sensitive points.

This brilliant discovery interested other people and little by little Davis made other pants. No longer able to manufacture alone, he decided to join forces with Levi Strauss to create a brand and they patented the jeans in 1873. When their patent expired in 1890, other brands took over the jeans. It was the America of cowboys, workers and lumberjacks and the demand for work clothes was immense. Thus were born several brands of jeans such as Lee, Carhartt or Wrangler, which still exist today. The jeans began their mythical epic thanks to the cinema by dressing the cowboys. It is thanks to the Second World War that the jean began its conquest of the world. The American G.I. landed in Europe, wearing their jeans which seduced the local population. Marlon Brando and James Dean, molded in their jeans, popularized the image of the young rebel.

Thus the stars of the rock 'n' roll seized the clothing, contributing to make it definitely cool. The hippies also wore it in the 60s to support the working class. And feminists chose to wear it to demand gender equality. Thus become a symbol of counter-culture, we had to wait until 1976, to see the jeans appear on the catwalk, in a Calvin Klein fashion show. Reworked at leisure by designers, the jeans could have a thousand and one faces and adapt to all styles. Timeless, timeless, it combines wonderfully with the navy sweater with which it shares a rich history, and workwear origins.
