Our virgin wool sailor sweater
An iconic and timeless garment, our women's sailor jumper has remained unchanged since its beginnings in the workshops of Maison Le Minor almost 100 years ago. It's knitted in a tight knit from a virgin wool yarn, with a long cut so it can be worn close to the body. Today, this model is still a hit with our knitters: it's the jumper that every woman should have in her wardrobe.
This navy knit is available here in a soft, natural shade of ecru that's easy to wear and easy to combine with your different styles. It was originally designed to keep sailors warm without getting in the way when manoeuvring a boat. It was, and still is, commonly referred to as the ‘sock jumper’ because it's close-fitting and has been worn tightly for all these decades. If you can't decide between two sizes, go for the smaller one. If you're not comfortable with a slim fit, try one of our fuller models: Newport, the fisherman's jumper, or our slim, supple plain merino model.
Creation of our sailor sweater in virgin wool
This ecru sailor sweater for women is made in France, in our Guidel workshop. The manufacturing recipe of our famous sailor sweater has remained unchanged since 1922: a cut close to the body, a buttoned placket at the collar, and a composition always in 100% virgin wool. This sailor sweater is a very light and pleasant garment to wear, even in summer during cool evenings! Have you ever tried wearing your sailor sweater next to your skin? It seems that our surfers of Guidel-Plages, dare, after their surfing sessions, to wear our virgin wool sailor sweater next to the skin, immediate warmth guaranteed!
