Our virgin wool sailor sweater
An absolute classic from the House of Le Minor, our sailor jumper is knitted like the original model we've been making since 1922 for Breton fishermen. Here it's imagined in a play of bright colours - navy and red stripes - for the perfect dose of vitamins as soon as you wake up to admire the sunrise. An emblematic and timeless knit, this model has remained unchanged for over a hundred years - long cut, worn close to the body, knitted in a tight knit from a virgin wool yarn - and is the garment we must have in our wardrobe.
This marine knit has always been designed to be worn close to the body, initially to keep sailors warm without getting in the way when manoeuvring a boat. It is traditionally known as the ‘sock jumper’, because it is tight-fitting and has been worn close-fitting for all these years. The Le Minor hosiery workshop began production in 1922, and the meticulous detailing of this timeless knitwear makes this striped sailor jumper, made entirely in the Breton hosiery workshops, well worth a look. If you're hesitating between two sizes, choose the smaller of the two. If you prefer a fuller fit, we recommend a Newport jumper or a fisherman's jumper, or even an extra-soft 100% merino wool jumper.
Creation of our virgin wool sailor sweater
Entirely made in France, in our Breton workshops, this red striped sailor sweater for women is made of pure virgin wool. This natural raw material is known for its breathable property: it retains heat and lets perspiration evaporate. It is therefore without a doubt the ideal wool sweater for spring and summer. It can be worn perfectly over a plain navy blue flocked t-shirt.
