Our virgin wool sailor sweater
A true classic at Le Minor, the navy jumper has always been knitted identically in our workshops, ever since it was first produced in 1922. Here, it's been designed with a sober, elegant colour scheme - navy and offwhite stripes - to create a harmonious ensemble. This version is a tribute to a magnificent sailor jumper from the 70s that came back to our workshops under the MBL label (‘Manufacture de Bonneterie Lorientaise’) with these colours, which we wanted to bring up to date. Iconic and timeless, this long-cut, close-fitting model is knitted in a tight knit from virgin wool yarn.
This historic jumper was originally designed to keep sailors warm without getting in the way when manoeuvring a boat. Our hosiery business dates back to 1922, making Le Minor the oldest hosiery business in the region still in operation, and the meticulous details of this timeless knitwear make this striped sailor jumper well worth owning. It's made entirely in Guidel, in the Morbihan region of Brittany. If you're hesitating between two sizes, choose the larger one. If you prefer loose-fitting jumpers, choose our Newport and Pêcheur models. And don't forget to have a look at our plain Merino wool jumper.
