Be careful, this traditional jumper is worn very close to the body: it's tight-fitting. Designed not to interfere with sailors' manoeuvres, it has retained this close-fitting cut for 100 years. If you prefer a loose fit, opt for a navy jumper with ribbed edges (Newport, fisherman's jumper...). Gentlemen, take a size larger than your usual size. See our size chart for more information.

Care instructions :
- Our knitwear is machine washable: we recommend a cold wool cycle (or 20°C maximum) and a maximum 600 rpm spin.
- However, to make your knitwear last as long as possible, hand washing is recommended.
- Do not use detergents
- Dry flat, do not tumble dry
- Iron at 110°C maximum
- Professional care with normal water cycle

Our sailor sweater in virgin wool

The genuine sailor jumper for men that has made Le Minor hosiery so successful. Now it's been revisited in an elegant denim blue colour that renews the authenticity of this model. This garment is a timeless staple that hasn't changed in its construction for over a hundred years - it's worn close to the body with its long cut - and is the jumper that every man should have in his wardrobe.

This marine knit, in denim blue, was originally designed to be worn close to the body, to keep sailors warm without hindering boat manoeuvres. That's why it's commonly known as the ‘sock jumper’: it's tight-fitting, and has always been worn that way. Although the button placket on the sailor jumper is a Scottish innovation, this Breton knit deserves the services of the oldest hosiery firm still operating in the Breton region: Le Minor, which dates back to 1922. Take the larger size if you're hesitating between two sizes. If you're not comfortable wearing a close-fitting garment, choose one of our looser-fitting models: Newport, fisherman's jumper... or opt for our extra-soft, more comfortable merino wool, with the plain merino wool sailor's jumper.

For decades, Le Minor has been offering its essential model - the virgin wool navy jumper - in different shades and compositions. This denim-blue knit for men has similar characteristics to our first navy jumpers: a classic straight cut and a dry virgin wool composition. We're now offering fuller, slimmer navy jumpers in our online shop, as part of our latest collections.
