Jane marinière with irregular stripes
Our ecru Jane marinière reinvents the iconic sailor garment with a pattern derived from our Pablo marinière. Made entirely in our Guidel workshop in Brittany, it perpetuates the know-how of excellence that Le Minor has meticulously cultivated since 1922. The choice of an ecru rather than white background adds a subtle warmth that perfectly highlights the navy blue stripes arranged in a deliberately irregular rhythm. This break with traditional spacing is directly inspired by the marinières worn by Pablo Picasso, who made them a signature element of his artist's wardrobe on the Côte d'Azur.
The cotton used in its manufacture, similar to that of our traditional marinières, guarantees remarkable resistance through the seasons. The buttons on the left shoulder bring a new nuance to the classic marinière.. Its straight cut enhances the feminine silhouette, offering perfect ease without compromising elegance. Every detail testifies to our knitwear expertise: meticulous hand finishing, reinforced seams and dense jersey that retains its structure over time.
In naming this model "Jane", we pay tribute to Jane Birkin who, like Picasso before her, made the marinière a symbol of casual yet sophisticated style. This piece embodies our commitment to responsible, long-lasting fashion, made entirely in France, where every stage of production is mastered with respect for tradition and the environment.
