OUR sailor's shirt for men
The striped sailors are very referenced: the alternation of plain and stripes evokes the striped knitwear of the French Navy, which, by arriving in the locker rooms of civilians, allowed them to adopt a style of adventurer, of free-spirited sailor. It is a pattern often worn by Pablo Picasso, but other artists have also opted for this timeless style. At le Minor, we've long offered this striped matelot shirt. When we took it under the microscope, we realigned the stripes between the sleeves and the body to eliminate the mismatch found in the navy sailor suit. It's a bias!
Creation of our marinière for men
It seems like nothing so much we are used to see this pattern on many recent creations. But the placement of stripes, this alternation between plain and stripes, which creates a contrasting and elegant design, is in fact a technical feat. First of all, during the manufacturing of the fabric, so that the stripes are regular and conform to the pattern. Then in the cutting, so that the first stripe of the body and sleeves start at the same place. That's why these manufacturing steps are often outsourced. But not at Le Minor, where we handle every step of manufacturing in-house, without ever having outsourced anything in our history.
